Kuwait Municipality Destroyed 328 Kilograms Of Expired Foodstuffs
The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality declared that its media campaign titled “Your Health is Trust” will continue and will include intensive inspection campaigns on shops, restaurants, eateries and warehouses to verify compliance with municipality regulations and ensure the validity of the foodstuffs before they are sold to consumers especially during the month of Ramadan, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In this regard, the Emergency Team of Hawally Municipality launched campaigns in Salmiya area during which 328 kilograms of expired foodstuffs were destroyed. These expired food items included 115 kilograms of rotten fish and 49 kilograms of expired sweets.
The team also issued 5 citations for violations of working without health certificate, employing staff before getting health certificates, opening shop before obtaining license, operating shop with expired license and transportation of goods using unlicensed mode of transport. Also, inspection campaigns by Kuwait Municipality are ongoing in the cooperative societies and restaurants in all governorates, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
These campaigns resulted in the issuance of 46 citations in Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates and closure of two shops. The Monitoring and Municipal Services Follow-up Department affiliated to Farwaniya Municipality launched campaigns on cooperative societies, restaurants, shops and warehouses where several violations were observed.
Acting Director of the department Masoud Dashti said the inspectors of the department targeted the above mentioned places to verify the safety of foodstuffs sold to consumers, revealing that 28 citations were issued for violations of foodstuffs and advertising regulations. The Emergency Team of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Municipality carried out similar inspection campaigns in line with the media campaign titled “Your Health is Trust” launched by Kuwait Municipality’s Public Relations Department. The campaigns resulted in closure of two shops and issuance of 18 citations in addition to removal of 15 violating advertisements from the streets.
