Kuwait Municipality Destroyed 632kg Unsafe Veggies And Fruits
The controlling bodies at Kuwait Municipality branches in the Capital, Jahra and Mubarak Al-Kabeer continued their inspection campaigns targeting cooperative societies, foodstuff companies, wholesale markets, shops, restaurants and street vendors.
These campaigns resulted in the issuance of 90 citations for violations related to foodstuff and advertisements, disposal of 632 kilograms of vegetables and fruits not safe for human consumption and removal of 126 loads of waste materials. In a press statement, the Public Relations and Media Department at the Municipality disclosed the intensification of inspection campaigns before and during Ramadan is part of the media campaign launched by the Municipality with the theme, “Your health is our responsibility.”
The department added the Waste Removal Unit at the Capital branch inspected shops in Mubarakiya leading to the issuance of 79 citations for violations concerning shop licenses and advertisements. These campaigns included inspection of four houses in West Sulaibikhat and follow up of four complaints in Ghernata.
The Audit and Municipality Services Follow up Department at Jahra branch carried out campaigns in Suliabiya where they confiscated and disposed 632 kilograms of vegetables and fruits not safe for human consumption and issued six citations for different violations such as selling expired food products.
The Public Sanitation and Road Occupancy Department and the team in charge of street vendors in Mubarak Al-Kabeer branch also conducted a series of campaigns to remove abandoned cars from parks and mosque yards in addition to curbing the number of street vendors who sell foodstuff from unknown sources.
The campaigns resulted in the issuance of five citations for violations committed by street vendors who sell food items before obtaining license from Municipality, as well as removal of 126 loads of debris, wood and waste and four abandoned cars.
