Head of the committee in charge of following up the trend of bachelors living in residential areas and Deputy Director General of Farwaniya Municipality and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Municipality Affairs Eng Ammar Al-Ammar affirmed that the committee has disconnected electricity supply to 15 houses that were rented to bachelors in Farwaniya, Hawally and Ahmadi areas in coordination with Ministry of Electricity and Water, reports Al- Seyassah daily.
He explained that the electricity supply was disconnected after warnings were sent to these houses that had violated law No. 125/1992 that bans renting out fl ats in residential areas to bachelors. When the grace period specified in the warning letters had ended, citations were issued against the owners of those houses in coordination with the Real Estate Registry Department of Ministry of Justice.
After that, Ministry of Electricity and Water was requested to disconnect the electricity supply to these houses. Hence, electricity supply to nine houses in Khaitan Block 10, two houses in Jabriya and four houses in Fahaheel has been disconnected.
Other houses in violation of the aforementioned law are being identified, and relevant procedures are ongoing. Eng. Al-Ammar stressed the keenness of Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and State Minister for Municipal Affairs Fahd Al-Shua’la and Director General of Kuwait Municipality Eng. Ahmed Al-Manfouhi to confront this negative phenomenon and take necessary actions against the violators.
