Kuwaiti Gets 10 Years Jail With Hard Labor For Issuing Dud Check Worth Kd 240,000

The Criminal Court, headed by Counselor Abdullah Al-Othman, has sentenced a Kuwaiti to 10 years imprisonment with hard labor for issuing a dud check worth KD 240,000 and escaping to Saudi Arabia via Al-Salmi after his arrest, reports Al- Rai daily.

The court has also found a police sergeant guilty of removing the handcuffs when the Kuwaiti was taken to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital and failing to protecting the man who was under his care to three years’ imprisonment with hard labor.

The court sentenced the sister of the first accused to two years’ imprisonment with hard labor for assisting her brother to leave the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital and driving him to Al-Salmi to enable him to leave the country. The court also ordered the defendants to pay the plaintiff KD 5,001 in temporary compensation for the damage he has suffered and pay lawyers’ fees.
