Kuwaiti Man And His Girlfriend Acquitted Of Consuming Drugs
The Criminal Court acquitted a Kuwaiti man and his girlfriend of consuming drugs and driving under the influence in Khairan on Valentine’s Day.
According to the case file, the prosecution officer said a patrol team set up an impromptu checkpoint in Khairan during the night, so they ordered the suspect to pull over for inspection. It became glaring right from the onset that both suspects were disoriented. The officers demanded for their identification cards, so the man presented his passport while the lady did not hold any identification.
The officers ordered the motorist to alight for inspection, resulting in the discovery of the drugs.
However, lawyer for the accused, Attorney Abdullah Al- E l a n d a , questioned the action of police. He argued that the officers had no reason to search his clients or arrest them without any warrant. He insisted that there was no sufficient proof that his clients are linked with the drugs.
Citizen acquitted: The Misdemeanor Court acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of insulting a real estate trader on Twitter through a number of posts he uploaded on his Twitter account. The Public Prosecution charged the citizen with the insulting the real-estate trader and misusing smartphones through which he uploaded the offensive posts on Twitter. During the court session, the defense counsel Lawyer Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan said the case file has no clear evidences to prove the crime which is punishable as per Article 6 of law No. 63/2015 on cybercrimes and Article 70 of law No. 37/2014 on communication as well as Article 7/210 of law No. 3/2006 on publishing.
