Kuwaitis Acquitted In Drugs Case

19 November 2018 Crime News

The Court of Appeals cancelled the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced two citizens to four-year imprisonment. The court instead acquitted them of charges of drug possession and consumption.

The defense counsel Lawyer Abdullah Al-Alanda insisted that the arrest-and-search procedures were illegal because his clients were not caught redhanded. He highlighted the absence of any link between his clients and the confiscated items, stressing his doubts about the investigations under the claim that they were not serious.

According to the case file, the arresting officer said he was patrolling Farwaniya area when he saw the first suspect and stopped him. When he asked for his driving license, he saw a knife. He asked the suspect to pull over his car to the roadside. At that moment, he saw the second suspect, who was also in the same car, throw out a black pack.

The officer checked the pack and found some substances suspected to be drugs and drug paraphernalia. He then conducted a search of the vehicle and the suspects which led to the discovery of a suspicious substance in the pocket of the second suspect and two packs of the same substance under the car seat.
