Lebanese Public Prosecutor Turns Down Kuwaits Extradition Request Of Murder Suspect

16 March 2018 Crime News

The Lebanese Public Prosecutor has turned down Kuwait’s request to extradite Nader Essam Assaf, who is the alleged murderer of the Filipina maid Joanna Daniela Demafelis.

According to the Prosecution the case falls within the Lebanese jurisdiction because the accused is Lebanese and at the moment is in the custody of the Lebanese police. Assaf and his Syrian born-wife Mona Hassoun are the main suspects in the murder case.

Assaf and his wife were caught in Syria, but Assaf was handed over to Beirut while his wife remains in custody of the police in Damascus. The 29-year-old Demafelis was found in the freezer of a Kuwait apartment more than a year after her employers Assaf and his wife had left the country.
