Man Gets 3 Years Jail

The Court of Cassation has sentenced a Kuwaiti man in his 50s to three years in prison with hard labor for challenging the authority of His Highness the Amir and making statements deemed malicious against the leadership via his Twitter handle. The Public Prosecution Department charged the defendant for the two offenses based on his tweets on social media. He allegedly questioned the authority, prerogatives and rights of the Amir of Kuwait. The malicious statements he made were also considered a deliberate abuse of social media and smart phone.
