Man In Woman’s Garb Flees After Armed Robbery At Hawally Bank

An unidentified man, who was armed and clad in woman’s clothing, robbed a bank along Ibn Khaldoun Street in Hawally where he stole KD 4,500.

Hawally securitymen rushed to the location after the Operations Unit in the Interior Ministry received information on the robbery. They looked into the surveillance camera recordings at the bank, which showed that the suspect entered the bank wearing ‘abaya’ and ‘niqab’.

He then pointed a pistol at one of the bank officials and demanded for money, leaving the bank official with no option but to hand over the money.

He fled from the scene immediately after taking the money. Initial investigations revealed the suspect, who spoke with an Egyptian accent, threatened to kill workers at the bank through suicide bombing if they don’t give him money. A case was registered and the necessary steps have been taken to arrest the culprit
