Minister Of Commerce And Industry Inspected Several Cooperative Societies For Monitoring Prices
Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudan inspected several cooperative societies with the objective of monitoring prices to ensure there is no price manipulation or unjustified price increase, considering there are several record-breaking promotions in this year’s holy month of Ramadan. In a press statement after the inspection tour, Al-Roudan disclosed an electronic mechanism will be introduced in the coming days, including the smart app for protection of consumers through which the consumers can submit their complaints.
He affirmed the app will be easy to use, not only for the consumers but for the employees too. Through the app, the complaints of consumers regarding violations or suspicious price increase will be monitored and followed up, without the need to physically appear before the concerned authorities, he added.
He admitted lack of proper attention given to consumers’ complaints although the concerned authorities are working tirelessly to address complaints. He added the app will enable consumers to view the actual prices of commodities, as well as monitor and locate commodities
