Ministry Of Education Plans To Cut Number Of Expat Teachers By 25 Percent

Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education at the Ministry of Education Fatima Al- Kandari has unveiled the ministry’s plan to reduce the number of expatriate teachers by 25 percent; especially those whose fields of specialization are available among Kuwaiti, GCC and Bedoun teachers like the Social Studies subject.

In a statement to the press after presiding over a meeting with the directors of educational districts, Al-Kandari disclosed the ministry will take this step at the beginning of the next school year. She affirmed the expatriate teachers, whose services will be terminated, will be informed three months before applying the decision.

In another development, she said the ministry will receive new schools in March – six in Jaber Al-Ahmad and 11 in Northwest Sulaibikhat.

She clarified the schools will be opened based on the student population and percentage of achievement. Asked about the date of announcing the results of examinations, she said the results will be ready 24 hours after the last day of examinations and the announcement will be made on  4 January, 2016.
