Ministry Of Electricity And Water Stops Gas Units In Power Stations Due To Planned Oil Workers Strike

17 April 2016 Kuwait

Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) said Saturday it stopped gas units in power stations due to the planned strike by oil workers, and re-operated special electricity generation stations.

The power generators and water distillation units were already affected by some "preventive operations" adopted by the oil sector in some of the gas supply lines due to the strike of workers, due tomorrow, the MEW said in a statement.

This has forced the ministry to stop gas units and distribute the fuel on production units, it added.

The ministry said it was in contact with the oil sector to explore all possibilities which could affect fuel supply to power stations.
