Mof And Capt Took Important Steps To Expedite The Completion Of Phases 2 And 3 Of The Project For Construction Of New Terminal At Kia
Ministry of Finance and Central Agency for Public Tenders recently took important steps to expedite the completion of phases 2 and 3 of the project for construction of the new passenger terminal building at Kuwait International Airport, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.
They explained that the first step was to obtain the approval of Ministry of Finance to insert the rest of the project’s components in circular No. 3 concerning capital expenditure and maintenance of construction projects into the budget of 2017/2018 fiscal year.
This step enabled Ministry of Public Works to get the approval for financial credit for phase two that include construction of car parking facilities and other relevant services at an estimated cost of KD 250 million.
Ministry of Finance allocated the money needed for the supervisory agreement concerning the study and design of phase three related to construction of aircraft parking facilities, runways and service buildings at a total estimated cost of KD 2.5 million prior to floating the relevant tender.
Ministry of Public Works asked the Central Agency for Public Tenders to accelerate the procedures related to the consultation agreement for the design of phase three. The Central Agency for Public Tenders approved the request to sign a contract with a consultation company in this regard.
The sources revealed that the design of phase three will require about six months followed by the floating of the tender for the establishment of aircraft parking facilities and runways at an estimated cost of KD 250 million. They indicated that the tender for construction of car parking facilities is expected to be fl oated by the end of October 2018.
