Mof Has Allotted Budget Of Kd 2.2 Billion To The Moe For Fiscal Year 2018-2019

Ministry of Finance has allotted budget of KD 2.2 billion (about $ 7.2 billion) to the Ministry of Education for fiscal year 2018/2019, says acting Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs in the Ministry of Education Yusuf Al-Najjar, reports Al- Rai daily.

Al-Najjar explained the allocation is not enough amid deficit in some items and the sector has already notified the Ministry of Finance about it. He maintained the needs of financial sector in the Ministry of Education go beyond what is stated by the Ministry of Finance, especially on the first item concerning salaries that requires a huge allocation due to the ever-increasing number of employees.

He noted the Ministry of Finance does not mind raising the item of salaries but it is eager to set financial plan of the remaining items. He said the assistant undersecretary for administrative affairs in the Ministry of Education Fahd Al-Ghais has held meetings with the concerned Ministry of Finance official to discuss the reason behind demand to increase some items.

He stated budget of the Ministry of Education for the current fiscal year is KD 1.8 billion and entails KD 1.6 billion for salaries and KD 200 million for all other items, which is inadequate for the development educational programs.
