Moh Affirmed That ‘sustainable Development Goals 2030’ Approved By The United Nations

Dr Waleed Al-Falah, Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs in the Ministry of Health affirmed that ‘Sustainable Development Goals 2030’ approved by the United Nations in September 2015, is a major and highly rated landmark compared to the previous ‘Millennium Development Goals’.

Al-Falah added a third of the sustainable development goals concerning healthcare stipulates “Health insurance and comfort for people of all ages”. He stated the goal exemplifies the roadmap for a new healthcare system. He pointed to other goals that are directly and indirectly related to health, citing the one that focuses on poverty, education, and gender equality, addition to new excellent concepts such as the “health in all policies”, which means that healthcare should be included on all systems.

Another notable new concept is the comprehensive health coverage to guarantee justice and equality among citizens and residents in all countries, which simply means that healthcare is a basic factor and inalienable right of all human beings. He revealed that Technical Affairs Sector represented by the Central Primary Healthcare Department will organize a workshop Sunday titled “Following-up Health Related International Sustainable Development Goals and Objectives”.

He declared the workshop will be held in recognition of those goals and their significance. He reiterated Regional Office of the World Health Organization in Saudi Arabia will participate in the three-day event. Meanwhile, Head of Gastrointestinal Unit in Al-Sabah Hospital Dr Wafaa Al-Hashash has disclosed the alarming spread of colon cancer in Kuwait, stressing on the increasing number of cases, which calls for concern, reports Aljarida daily.

Dr Al-Hashash affirmed that the number of citizens who have applied for early diagnosis since the launch of national program for early detection of colorectal cancer three years ago has reached about 80,000, and there are other cases registered which has been dealt with.

She indicated that the cancer starts with a small tumor in the colon, and it takes between five to ten years for the tumor to become cancerous. Dr Al-Hashash explained that all sections of gastrointestinal units in government hospitals, in the next few days, will observe the month of awareness on colon cancer which is observed in March of every year. Many awareness events will be organized to highlight the importance of early detection of cancer and ways to prevent it.
