Moi Announced That Leaving Cars On Road After Accident Will Draw Citation
The Public Relations and Security Media- General Department in the Ministry of Interior announced that Articles 41/2 and 41/5 of the Traffic Law and its amendments, which allow police stations to issue reconciliation order for minor traffic accidents, will be implemented starting from Sunday.
The statement issued by the department explained that the objective of this measure is to save the effort and time of the general public whenever they are involved in minor traffic accidents.
The ministry is keen on ensuring speedy processing of transactions, while the new procedure will be implemented first in the Capital Governorate on an experimental basis, and then it will be enforced in the other governorates, the department added.
The department also affirmed that the ministry is fully prepared for the implementation of the decision as the concerned personnel took the necessary training courses which allow parties involved in a minor accident to go to the nearest police station where they will be issued the reconciliation order without waiting for traffic police to process the transaction.
Director General of Investigation Department Major General Fahad Al-Dosari revealed that he has coordinated with the concerned bodies to activate the reconciliation law for minor accidents. He lauded everyone who contributed to the successful implementation of this law, which is in the interest of the country and individuals. According to the amended Article 133 of ministerial Decree No. 76/81 on minor accidents, if an accident does not result in injuries or deaths, or if the vehicles do not become immobile, those involved must move their vehicles to the shoulder without obstructing traffic. If the parties involved fail to abide by it, a citation will be issued to them for obstructing traffic. Al-Dosari clarified this procedure is aimed at opening the road as quickly as possible after being obstructed by minor accidents. He called on the public to cooperate with the agencies to serve the interests of everyone.
