Mosquito Problem Due To Stagnant Water In The Sabah Al-ahmed City

20 August 2018 Kuwait

As a result of negligence by the state authority responsible for dealing with the stagnant water present in Sabah Al- Ahmed City close to Area E, the rate of mosquitoes in the area has been increasing despite efforts exerted by Ministry of Health by spraying insect repellents, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The residents of the area revealed that this problem has been worsening in the past 18 months, which in turn has been affecting their health badly especially of children and women. They stressed that a number of them suffer from health problems and were referred to Adan Hospital for medical treatment.

The residents explained that the color of the flying insects has been changing lately to a dark color. Strong winds bring these inspects along with unbearable odors to the residential areas.

These bad smells are from the plants that handle sewage water, which had leaked onto the main streets, causing the dirty water to remain stagnant.

They suggested that Ministry of Public Works and State Ministry for Housing Affairs to contract with a company for removing reeds regularly, as that is considered as a preferred environment for mosquitoes to thrive.
