14 February 2018 Kuwait

Ambassador of Iraq to Kuwait Alaa Al-Hashmi disclosed about a process set in place in coordination with Kuwaiti authorities to facilitate entry of Iraqi traders and businessmen and those visiting families in Kuwait, indicating that the entry of 150 Iraqis during the recent Arabian Gulf Cup is an achievement for both countries, reports Al-Shahed daily. In the TV program titled “Expand Your Horizon” on Al-Shahed TV, the ambassador said the effects of the Iraqi invasion are still in the hearts of Kuwaitis, stressing that he still has the feeling even though it is hidden.

He insisted that people of both countries should overcome their differences and conflicts, as the ties between the two people are social and based on kinship. The ambassador revealed about some people who are trying to ambush Iraq in an attempt to take it back to the first square of divide among Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds, but the Iraqi youths are aware of the seriousness of the matter. Ambassador Al-Hashmi affirmed that he is one of the advocates for the removal of borders between Kuwait and Iraq “because we are one society”, adding that the Kuwaiti side has been strict in granting visas to delegations from Iraq visiting Kuwait.
