Mp Re-submit Bill To Liquidate Ministers’ Court And Prosecution Regulations
MP Riyadh Al-Adasani, commenting on the recently submitted bill to liquidate the ministers’ court and prosecution regulations, said he had submitted a similar bill in January 2018, but that bill is yet to find its way to the National Assembly for deliberations, due to which he has decided to re-submit the bill with other MPs to expedite processing.
He stressed that the current law concerning the legal trials of ministers does not abide by the principles of equality ensured by the Constitution; therefore, its implementation is a violation.
MP Al-Adasani explained that, during the early years of parliamentary life in Kuwait, there were no special courts for ministers, as there was no need for such an establishment.
Since article 132 of the Constitution stipulates the procedures to be followed in terms of prosecuting ministers, unnecessary expansion on this matter is considered a violation.
Also, this law is in direct violation of article 29 of the State Constitution which stipulates that “People are peers in human dignity and have, in the eyes of the law, equal public rights and obligations”.
