A number of important draft laws should be prioritized in the next legislative round — such as the economic bills and those concerning Kuwait Investment Authority, financial disclosure and transparency, says MP Abdul-Wahab Al-Babtain.

Al-Babtain also stressed the need to focus on other bills including those related to elections and offenders. He added the MPs are now preparing a bill on amending the State Audit Bureau Law.

MP Safa Al-Hashem praised the Ministry of Health’s decision to increase the fees for medical services offered to expatriates.

She pointed out that everybody supports the decision of Health Minister Dr Jamal Al-Harbi to increase medical fees for expatriates and visitors, especially since the government hospitals in their countries do not accept Kuwaitis.

She said that in Oman, expatriates are not admitted to government hospitals so they have to go to private hospitals and their health insurance policies are paid by their employers.

In another development, Al-Hashem called for withdrawing the licenses of two charitable organizations — Islamic Social Reform Society and Islamic Culture Society.

On her Twitter account, Al-Hashem posted, “Calamities do not happen to us, unless those caused by these two organizations. We will never have peace as long as these organizations confuse religion with politics.”

In response to Al-Hashem, MP Jaman Al-Harbash said incitement against the Islamic Social Reform Society is aimed at mixing up issues and protecting the Islamic Culture Society.

Earlier, some MPs called for the closure of these two charitable organizations as they allegedly violated the Non-Government Organizations Law.
