Mysterious Lung Disease On Rise Among People Smoking E-cigarettes
“The US Department of Health has announced that the number of people suffering from a mysterious lung disease as a result of smoking e-cigarettes is increasing,” reports Al-Rai daily quoting oncologist consultant, Vice- President of the Kuwaiti Society for Smoking and Cancer Dr Khalid Ahmad Saleh.
He said, scientific reports spell the dangers of e-cigarettes and all kinds of tobacco carry great risks to human health and the best solution is to stop smoking and not to resort to alternatives that are advertised for material profits without taking into account human health. “As we expected before, it was too early to judge e-cigarettes,” Saleh said.
“Many experts have suggested that the future may reveal the dangers of this type of smoking that is not taken into account,” the report added. Stanton Glantz, director of the Tobacco Research Center at the University of California, cautioned against e-cigarettes by saying that smokers not only breathe nicotine with water vapor, but smoking is accompanied by many aldehydes and very small molecules that are dangerous in themselves and may be the cause of this mysterious lung disease.
