No Barbecuing On Kuwait Islands

26 April 2016 Kuwait

Chairman of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Humoud Al-Sabah called for ‘regulating’ barbequing on Kuwaiti coasts and islands. In a letter he sent to Kuwait Municipality’s director, Sheikh Abdullah said that a meeting had been held including the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR), Kuwait Municipality and the Touristic Enterprises Company (TEC) to discuss regulating the locations and activities of barbequing on various islands and on coastal areas and that each of them was asked to present a plan accordingly. Sheikh Abdullah stressed the need to ban barbequing on southern islands, which are Kubbar, Garouh and Um Al-Maradem, in order to protect their natural beauty and regulate this activity in other areas. Notably, the Municipality’s coordination manager Aatif Al-Matroud had presided a meeting to discuss designating places for barbequing in public places, yards, facilities and the seafront.
