No Body Organs Stolen From Deceased Bangladeshi - Moh
The Ministry of Health has denied recent reports about the theft of body organs from the deceased at the Farwaniya Hospital, reports Al-Anba daily. The ministry said in a statement it is committed to the Kuwaiti laws about organ transplantation and respects all international laws about prevention of trafficking in body organs.
The ministry stressed, until date no has has been filed against the ministry in this regard. The ministry official said liver was removed from a deceased Bangladeshi at the Farwaniya Hospital on Aug 4, 2018 after receiving a written consent from his family in Kuwait on Aug 1, 2018.
The liver was transplanted to a Kuwaiti woman who was suffering from complete liver failure and transplantation was the only means to save her life.
The ministry pointed out a complaint in this regard was filed by one of the far relatives of the deceased who was unaware of the consent letter given by the family of the deceased.
However, when he saw the consent letter in the presence of his Embassy officials, he apologized and withdrew his complaint. The Ministry of Health request not to publish any news reports without knowing its authenticity because it affects the morale and confidence of the people in the ministry.
Moreover, such reports tarnish the reputation of Kuwait and particularly its organ transplant department which works to save the lives of patients’ lives.
