No Deportation For Expats If Firm Is Fictitious

The Directorate-General of Residence Affairs has decided not to deport the workers registered under the fictitious companies, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The daily added, the owners of these companies, believed to be six Kuwaitis, who reportedly brought into the country 10,000 workers are charged with trafficking in human beings and have been referred to the Public Prosecution.

A security source told the daily instructions have been given to the criminal security sector that these workers must be allowed to rectify their status after paying fines and allowing them to find work in other companies.

The source said this decision has been taken keeping in mind the ‘human aspect’ since they were the victims of human traffickers and phantom companies.

On the other hand, the Directorate General yesterday carried out a large-scale security campaign inside the Naeem Scrapyard and the Jahra Industrial Area, which resulted in the arrest of 300 violators to residence and labor laws.

Security sources told the daily, the campaign was carried out upon instructions of the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt-Gen Sheikh Khaled Jarrah in coordination with Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Khalid Al-Dayeen, and Undersecretary Lt General Essam Al-Naham.

Al-Jarrah pointed out the criminal security sector, represented by the Directorate- General of Residence Investigations has developed an integrated security plan to raid more sites where migrant workers live. He pointed out all those arrested during the campaign will be referred for deportation and restrictions will be imposed on their sponsors. They will not be allowed to bring any migrant workers in addition to filing human trafficking cases against them.
