Official Report Disclosed The Spread Of Financial And Administrative Corruption In Moe
An official report has disclosed the spread of financial and administrative corruption in Ministry of Education.
The report contains the response provided by the Minister of Education Dr Mohammad Al-Fares at the request of His Highness the Premier Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak to the questions presented by lawmakers about the measures taken by Ministry to deal with corruption cases.
He explained in the report that a huge number of cases related to forging of educational certificates and misappropriation of public funds have been referred to the Public Prosecution. Court verdicts were issued in a lot of these cases against the involved employees while some of the cases are still under investigation at the Public Prosecution.
Dr Al-Fares affirmed that the ministry has taken several anti-corruption measures such as changing, transferring and reshuffling the employees who have been convicted in the financial irregularities, adding that they have also been placed in positions that are not related to financial aspects. He explained that a final verdict has been issued in one of the cases of misappropriation and embezzlement of public funds (case No. 1289/2013) as per which the suspect was fined and dismissed him from his position.
;In case No. 1332/2015, the implicated employees were referred to the Public Prosecution due to allegations of misappropriation of public funds and forging of official documents. The case was later referred to the Criminal Court. In case No. 180/2014 related to misappropriation of public funds, the accused employees were referred to the Criminal Court.
As for case No. 2226/2015 related to embezzlement of the ministry’s funds, a verdict was issued to recover the public funds from the accused employees. Regarding case No. 621/2015 which was referred to Public Prosecution and is concerning the incident of setting the office of the head of the finance department intentionally on fire, a verdict was issued and the suspect has been imprisoned and dismissed from his position. The minister stressed that there are several other cases currently under investigation at the Public Prosecution over different accusations including forging of official documents and embezzlement of public funds.
