Open Jobs To Bedoun - Mp Abdullah Fahaad

05 October 2018 Kuwait

MP Abdullah Fahaad submitted a proposal on granting employment rights to Bedouns, similar to that of Kuwaitis and other GCC citizens including leave days, salaries and allowances. In his explanatory note, the MP cited Article Two of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-selfgoverning or under any other limitation of sovereignty.” He pointed out Kuwait has been declared as the International Humanitarian Center and HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as International Humanitarian Leader; hence, the country should address the problems of Bedouns.

He also argued that Bedouns have greatly contributed to the development of the country and some of them even sacrificed their lives for Kuwait. He stressed Bedouns live in this country they consider home, yet they lack some of the most basic human rights. He added he submitted the proposal because this issue should not be neglected.
