Panel Discussed A Study On The Needs Of The Labor Market

14 December 2017 Kuwait

The parliamentary Budgets and Final Accounts Committee on Wednesday discussed a study on the needs of the labor market in relation to educational output carried out by the educational bodies in coordination with the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Committee Chairman MP Adnan Abdul-Samad disclosed they met with representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET), Kuwait University, Secretariat-General of the Private Universities Council, Ministry of Finance and the CSC

He revealed the committee tackled the same issue on May 26, 2016 including the impact on estimate of expenditure for salaries which constitutes 55 percent of the total expenditure in the general budget of the State. He pointed out there has been imbalance in covering the manpower need of government agencies and accumulation of graduates in certain disciplines while some of the educational outputs are inefficient according to audit authorities.

He added this reflects negatively on the government’s performance in general, considering the lack of government coordination in checking the actual manpower need in cooperation with the concerned authorities.
