Private Hospitals Warned Against Carelessness In Dealing With Suspected Covid-19 Cases

The Ministry of Health vowed to take strict legal measures against private hospitals for any recklessness in dealing with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Legal measures will be taken against any private medical institutions which fails to comply with the instructions, including the suspension of doctors who fail to assume their duties”, said Assistant Undersecretary for Private Medical Services Dr. Fatima Al-Najjar.

Under a circular issued by the ministry, private hospitals are forbidden to discharge any patient suspected of contracting the virus until they can be transferred to a proper isolated location.

Dr. Al-Najjar urged private hospitals to co-ordinate immediately with the Medical Emergency Directorate to arrange the transfer of the suspected patient to a government hospital.
