Deputy Director- General for Aviation Safety, Air Transport and Airport Affairs at the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation, Eng Imad Al-Jilwi was recently quoted as saying there is a tendency to refer anyone who uses wireless aircraft equipped with cameras, or amateur aircraft in residential and restricted areas to the State Security police as long as they practice flying (hobby) in the skies of Kuwait without license from the competent authorities, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Jilwi told the daily that anyone who practices this hobby in Kuwait’s skies without licence or takes photographs from the air of sketches or maps with the help of wireless aircraft will be punished by imprisonment and a fine in accordance with the law.

In other news he said the Kuwait International Airport will reach the 11 million mark in terms of passengers using the airport this year. He added, everyone is aware that the number of passengers handled by the airport in the past was more than 10 million a year, which far exceeds the capacity of the current building of not more than seven million passengers a year.

He added, this makes it imperative to put quick solutions to end the state of congestion at the airport through the establishment of the terminal building to ease the pressure and to maintain the level of quality of services.
