Raids On Salmiya Cafes And Restaurants

The Public Relations Department at Kuwait Municipality has announced that the Food Surveillance and Markets Department, which is affiliated with the Municipality branch in Hawally, conducted surprise inspection of cafés in Salmiya and this led to the issuance of seven citations. The department clarified in a press statement that the inspection campaign was aimed at making sure the cafés are strictly complying with health and safety regulations. According to the department, two citations were issued for allowing employees to work even if they have no health certificate, one for using a public area, one for operating even if the health license is expired and one for failure to comply with health conditions. The department urged owners of shops to fully abide by the laws and regulations, while warning that harsh penalties will be imposed on those proven to have committed violations.
