Residents In Block 9, Salmiya Have Complained That Telecom Tower Causes Headaches And Epilepsy

09 July 2017 Crime News

Residents in Block Nine, Salem Al-Mubarak Street, Salmiya have complained about the three storey telecommunications tower in the area as it allegedly causes headaches and epilepsy, reports Al-Seyassah.

In their complaint to the daily, the residents pointed out that the tower touches the flats and low buildings around it.

They claimed some people residing in the area have been suffering from chronic headache and a number of children had epileptic attacks due to waves emanating from the tower.

They urged the concerned officials at Kuwait Municipality and Municipal Council to look into the situation, indicating the tower owned by a telecommunications company is located in Thuwaini Building, just a few meters away from the houses so its electrical and magnetic waves penetrate the nearby houses.

They pointed out the Municipality has prohibited the installation of all types of telecommunication towers on rooftops, especially in buildings used as kindergartens or any educational activity, as well as public and private hospitals. They said the Municipality used to require presentation of license prior to installation of towers even if there are no houses or apartments nearby.

They added a permit must be obtained while the owners are also required to show the location and height of the tower. Moreover, the Municipal Council had earlier reported receiving complaints about these towers because of the harmful waves emanating from them.
