Team To Find Demographic Imbalance Pending
The decision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to form a team which will follow up licenses for supporting the work of the Supreme Committee for Studying and Dealing with Demographic Imbalance is no longer valid, because the team was not formed within three months as stated in the decision issued on May 12, 2018, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.
Sources pointed out the ministry did its part in the issuance of the decision and assigning the head of the team, but the relevant bodies did not appoint their representatives in the team.
Sources expect the undersecretary to issue a new decision in this regard in the next few weeks. Sources said the Secretariat General of the Supreme Council for Planning was supposed to follow up the formation of the team as the main body tasked to study and address the demographic imbalance issue.
Sources added the secretariat general should not have neglected the issue and it should have monitored the implementation of the decision.
Sources disclosed the secretariat general sent a letter to the ministry on April 4, 2018 demanding for immediate formation of the team which should submit its recommendations to the Supreme Committee for Studying and Dealing with Demographic Imbalance. However, the committee neglected the request to form the team and specify its tasks, sources added.
