The Cabinet Held Its Weekly Regular Session

The Cabinet held its weekly regular session on Monday, starting with Koranic verses and congratulations expressed by the ministers for His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on his reign's 11th anniversary, said the Cabinet Secretary General Abdulatif Abdullah Al-Roudhan in a statement after the session.

During the session, held at Bayan Palace and chaired by His Highhness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the ministers were informed about a message addressed to His Highness the Amir from the Kazakh president inviting His Highness to the first Islamic summit on sciences and technology due in Astana in September as well as the final ceremony for "Expo 2017 Future Energy."

They were notified about a message to His Highness the Amir from the general governor of the Australia, expressing congratulations on the 56th anniversary of the national day. He expressed satisfaction at outcome of his visit to Kuwait in May; a mission that would contribute to bolstering mutual cooperation between the two friendly countries.

They also examined a letter to His Highness from the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guteress, in response to Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad's congratulations on assuming the UN top post. Guteress lauded Kuwait's adherence to permanent partnership with the UN, expressing appreciation for hosting peace talks among Yemeni parties and continuous support for Iraqis, Syrians and Yemenis affected with violence.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah briefed the ministers about outcome of a recent visit to the country by Prince Zeid bin Ra'ad Zeid al-Hussein, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, who lauded Kuwait's achievements in the field of human rights. He also talked about the visits to the country by Director General of the International Organization of Migration William Lacy Swing and the Uzbek foreign minister.

He shed light on the talks he held with the Venezuelan oil minister during the latter's recent visit to the country, namely with respect of abiding by OPEC's decisions to maintain oil prices.
The cabinet congratulated the new German president and condemned the recent blast outside premises of the higher court in Kabul, rea-affirming rejection of all forms of terrorism. The ministers expressed sympathy with victims of deadly avalanches resulting from heavy snow in Afghanistan.
