The Court Of Cassation Upheld Death Against Woman For Murder
The Court of Cassation upheld the verdict of the Court of Appeals, which sentenced a Kuwaiti woman to death for killing a fellow compatriot at Sabah Al-Salem after a misunderstanding. The case file indicated the defendant allegedly stabbed another Kuwaiti woman to death during a reconciliation meeting between friends.
The defendant confessed that she went to the victim’s residence on that fateful day at the instance of the latter who wanted the rift settled amicably. On the way, she branched at a local market to buy a knife used for the dastard act. Upon arrival at the victim’s apartment, they had a minor argument over pending issues and suddenly attacked the woman with the knife.
She explained that she became hysterical with a fire of revenge, because the victim allegedly incited the husband against her and the man battered her few days to the incident.
Meanwhile, the Court of Appeals has upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a Twitter user to five-year imprisonment with hard labor for posting words deemed offensive to the entity of His Highness the Amir.
The State Security Department had arrested the suspect who had a perpetual tendency of offending state officials as well as political and social personalities. According to the case files, the Public Prosecution charged him with insulting and offending the entity of His Highness the Amir through his posts on his Twitter account, and with misusing his mobile phone. The defendant had completely denied these charges.
