The Vote On Commission And Vote On No-confidence Are Separate Issues

Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim said the vote on the request for the formation of the commission of inquiry does not mean the request for a no-confidence vote will be dropped from the constitutional and legal point of view.

However, the vote on the formation of the commission of inquiry can be done either before or after voting on the no-confidence motion, he added In a press statement, Al-Ghanim said the vote on the request to form an commission of inquiry has nothing to do with the voting on the no confidence motion.

Al-Ghanim said. He stressed both points of view will be presented at tomorrow’s (Thursday) session. On the other hand, Al-Ghanim said the Parliament Office discussed during today’s meeting in the presence of the Chairman of the Budget Committee MP Adnan AbdulSamad holding of additional meetings to approve the budgets. He added there are two reports that will be discussed during the next ordinary session.

“We will need 3 or 4 additional sessions to avoid sessions being held during the last ten days of Ramadan and this will be adopted at the Parliament Office during the next meeting which will later be submitted to the National Assembly for approval,” he added. Meanwhile, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, MP Hamad Al-Harshani, has called on all Kuwaitis, MPs and ministers to rise to the level of their responsibilities in light of the events unfolding in the region and the rapid and dangerous developments In a press statement, Al-Harshani said “We have to take responsibility and keep away from electoral gain, destabilization and the pursuit of malicious interpellations, which are meant to gain electoral victory.”

He called on MPs to be particularly responsible. He pointed out, the last interpellation was based on electoral gains, partisan, tribal notions, and called them illegitimate and unrealistic and fake far from the interests of the homeland, the nation’s stability and security Al-Harshani stressed these interrogations are for electoral gains at the expense of Kuwait’s interests. He added, the picture has become clear for everyone and now it is time to prove belonging to the homeland and protecting its stability and security through public interests, not personal.

On another issue, MP Riyadh Al- Adsani confirmed there is coordination with Minister of Finance Nayef Al- Hajraf, on what was discussed at the National Assembly by Budget and Final Accounts Committee regarding Touristic Projects Company and the observations and irregularities contained in the report of the Audit Bureau.

He said this is in addition to the observations and irregularities he put across the board during the committee’s meeting which are contained in the report of the Audit Bureau on the Kuwait Investment Authority and its financial statements and administrative affairs especially that the state owns 76 percent share in the company. Al-Adsani called on Al-Hajraf to follow-up the report of the Audit Bureau regarding the signing of a financial agreement and settlement of indebtedness of one of the real estate companies and the Kuwaiti Investment Authority based on the documents and data related to the subject taking into account the report of the fact-finding committee.
