There Is No Red Line In Holding Ministers Responsible For Shortcomings In Their Respective Ministries
MP Riyadh Al-Adsani said there is no red line in holding ministers responsible for shortcomings in their respective ministries, asserting that even HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah is subjected to interpellation
He pointed out Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water Bakheet Shibeeb Al-Rasheedi has yet to fulfil a number of promises like the reinstatement of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) employees who were referred for retirement unlawfully and revision of electricity contracts flagged by monitoring bodies. He stressed that he will not tolerate empty promises, false claims and procrastination.
If the minister does not reinstate these KOC employees by Thursday, he will submit an interpellation request against the minister during the parliamentary recess to be tabled for discussion by the beginning of the next parliamentary session.
In another development, member of the parliamentary Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee MP Khaled Al- Shatti said the National Assembly will hold a by-election in the near future to fill the seats vacated by MPs Waleed Al-Tabtabaei and Jam’an Al-Harbash who were sentenced to prison for involvement in the Assembly building storming case.
He clarified that due to the rarity of this case and the fact that the Assembly has never experienced such a scenario before, the MPs will act in accordance with the Constitution and parliamentary regulations. He added there will be no siding with the convicted MPs in terms of cancelling their membership.
