Traffic Department Gets Tough
The Traffic Sector of the General Traffic Department (GTD) continues to organize traffic and security campaigns to reduce traffic violations and arrest the residence and labor laws violators, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to a security source, the traffic campaigns which were organized from Nov 30 to Dec 6 this year under the supervision of the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Operations and Traffic Affairs Major-General Jamal Al Sayegh resulted in the issuance of 34,617 citations and the impoundment of 60 vehicles which have been towed to the police garage.
This is in addition to arresting 65 violators of the laws and 11 persons wanted by law for various reasons including possessing narcotics and drugs.
According to a security source, the Hawalli Governorate topped the number of violations which stood at 8,071 violations; Farwaniya came in second with 6,861 violations, followed by the Capital 6,038, subsequently followed by Jahra 3,950 violations, Al-Ahmadi with 3,722, and finally the Mubarak Al-Kabeer with 1,577 violations
