Trucks Breaking Traffic Rules On Kuwaiti Highways
Huge trucks have been shamelessly breaking traffic rules on Kuwaiti highways by racing and not using the lanes allocated for them, which in turn results in fatal accidents of which the victims are often the drivers of smaller vehicles.
This phenomenon has reached a dangerous level on highways such as the Sixth Ring Road and Seventh Ring Road on which the drivers of these haulage trucks race as though these highways are race tracks.
Some of these drivers intentionally use the middle lanes and even the left lane to such an extent that trucks can sometimes be seen speeding on all four lanes of the highways, endangering the lives of innocent motorists.
Lately, highways have witnessed fatal traffic accidents that resulted in the death of tens of innocent motorists.
Most of the time, these accidents are caused by the sudden stopping of trucks. This phenomenon must be brought to an end through strict laws and harsh penalties against the truck drivers who violate traffic rules. Some of the truck drivers do not seem to care about hitting other vehicles because they know they will not be held accountable as insurance companies will take care of the damages.
Due to this increasing phenomenon, a number of citizens are calling for the passing of a law to oblige truck drivers to use the lanes that are allocated for heavy vehicles, and that those who violate this law should be fined and their trucks should be confiscated because “the life of an innocent person is not so cheap that it should pay the price for the stupid behavior of irresponsible and reckless drivers”.
