The judicial control team of the Ministry of Electricity and Water has filed a case against the National Assembly accusing workers at the Parliament house of wasting water and not complying with the instructions of the Ministry of Electricity and Water in the area of rationalization of water, reports Al-Rai daily.

The deputy head of the judicial control team Ahmad Al-Shimmari said the team received a communication from the Public Relations and Information Department at the Ministry of Electricity and Water, from one of the citizens accusing the employees at the National Assembly of washing the facades of the building and the outside squares without following the procedures laid down in this regard.

The team immediately went to the site and recorded a case, stressing that this action is in line with the general policy of the State for the rationalization of water by following the guidelines when it comes to cleaning and washing.

Al-Shimmari pointed out the ministry’s keenness to apply the law on everyone without exception. He pointed out that the control team had earlier violated the Ministry of Electricity and Water, the Ministry of Interior, the Environment Public Authority and other institutions and individuals who violated the law.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works Eng Hossam Al-Roumi has addressed National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim regarding the proposed abolition of the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART), which was rejected about a month ago, reports Al-Rai daily.

In an opposite turn of events, the government side, represented by the Ministry of Public Works, approved the proposal submitted by MPs Abdullah Al-Roumi, Abdullah Fuhad and Jam’aan Al-Harbash to cancel law number 115/2014 on the establishment PART and its amendment – law number 3/2015.

The proponents of the proposal explained that the objectives are as follows: to maintain stability of government institutions and authorities, ensure effectiveness and balance in their mandates, and not to establish government agencies whose mandates resemble those of existing government institutions and departments. This leads to work confusion within government institutions, conflict of duties and failure to disentangle them in terms of responsibilities, they added.
