Songs Of The Poet Ahmad Al-Adwani

One of the most prominent classical Arabic poets in Kuwait during the 20th Century was Ahmed Meshari Al-Adwani. He worked closely on both traditional and classical colors of singing and played a significant role in lifting up the spirit of the Kuwaitis with his lyrical poems, written in both colloquial and classical Arabic. His lyrical poems have become a turning point in the contemporary history of Kuwaiti music. Top singers and composers, such as Om Kalthoum, Riyad Al Sunbati, Ahmad Baqer, and Shadi Al-Khalij, among others, composed the music and performed his lyrics. The Kuwaiti National Anthem was written by Al-Adwani and the music was composed by Ibrahim Al-Soula.

In this concert, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center sheds light on the close relationship between Al-Adwani and music and singing and elaborates on his delicate sensitivity that was turned into unforgettable melodies and songs. The concert is unique in the fact that it is the first time the Center organizes a concert to commemorate a poet, not a singer or a musician.

A night performed by Ali Abdullah, Khaled Al-Masoud, Fatima Al-Kuwaitiya, Wala’a Al-Sarraf.
