National Assembly Will Continue To Discuss The Issue Of Dead Fish
The Environment Committee of the National Assembly will continue to discuss the issue of dead fish during its meeting Monday and also the committee’s mandate to follow up the issue of protecting public parks, developing them and looking into violations that occur from time to time.
The meeting will be attended by officials from the Environment Public Authority and the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources.
In another development, MP Khalid Al-Shatti said he supports putting at rest the issue of multi-million dollar deposits, considering it has shaken the Kuwaiti society and a lot has been talked about it. He added that he will support anyone who raises this issue again or resubmits it to the Public Prosecution.
He added, however this will mean violation of the Constitution which disallows application of the penal code retrospectively. He stressed on the need to take this into consideration to avoid violating the Constitution. He added, any decision taken must be within the framework of the Constitution and the law.
The National Assembly Tuesday, April 17, 2018 will discuss two reports of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee on the lifting of parliamentary immunity of two MPs Hamad Al-Harashani and Jama’an Al-Harbash.
The forty-seventh report of the committee titled ‘urgent matter’ contained a request to lift the parliamentary immunity of Al-Harashani in Cases No. 4995 of 2017 and No. 15744/2017 termed Municipal misdemeanors. While the forty-eighth report of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee also termed ‘urgent matter’ was a request to lift the parliamentary immunity of MP Jama’an Al-Harbash in misdemeanor appeals Nos 28/2015 and 44/2013.
Moreover, the Legislative Committee of the National Assembly will meet at 10:00 am Monday to discuss the request to lift the parliamentary immunity of MP Mohammed Hayef Al-Mutairi, in another Municipality misdemeanor Case No. 11656 of 2016.
During the meeting the committee will also discuss parliamentary proposals on the law of the legal profession in the presence of current and former president(s) of the Bar Association.
