125 Cars And 5 Boats Seized
The General Cleaning Department and Road Works at Hawally Municipality seized 125 cars and 5 boats during a campaign on abandoned and scrap cars that they launched in several areas within Hawally Governorate.
Director of the department Saad Al-Jalawi explained in a statement that the department will hold such campaigns in residential and commercial areas with the aim of eradicating the phenomenon of abandoned vehicles, in line with article No. 9 of Cleanliness and Waste Transfer Regulations of law No. 190/2008.
This law stipulates that owners of scrap and abandoned cars have to transfer them to the place allocated for them by Kuwait Municipality instead of leaving them in the streets, pavements, yards and public places.
The municipality can seize these vehicles 48 hours after stickers are placed on the vehicles to warn their owners. The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality urges all citizens and residents to contact the hotline No. 1844448 or through the municipality’s account on social media ‘@kuwmun’ to report any complaints related to municipal work.
