22 Tons Of Spoiled Foodstuff Seized
Capital Municipality’s Emergency Team raided Shuwaikh Industrial Area from where they seized and destroyed 22 tons and 320 kilograms of spoilt foodstuffs from a warehouse.
The Capital Emergency Team Leader Tareq Al-Qattan declared that the raid was a dead blow on traders who display spoilt foodstuffs for sale.
He explained that the officials loaded the items onto five heavy vehicles. The items included 1,200 buckets of green and black olives which weighed 17 kilograms each. They also destroyed 50 cartons of mulberries and each carton weighed 1850 kilogram.
They destroyed 45 cartons of grapes, 47 cartons of pickles and 2 cartons of apricot juice. The officials also destroyed many other items during the operation.
Al-Qattan said Municipality inspectors had received information about the warehouse after which they organized the team to swoop on the suspicious place by surprise in compliance with directives from Kuwait Municipality Director General Engineer Ahmad Al-Manfouhi.
He said their focus is on cooperative stores, restaurants, shops, meat markets and warehouses, affirming that the officials are working hard to ensure the consumers are protected and the traders abide by regulations strictly.
