34 Domestics Working Seized At Shaddadiya - Pam
The Public Authority for Manpower during an inspection campaign at the Shaddadiya University arrested 34 workers registered under Article 20 (domestic workers), and 36 holding residence permit under Article 18 but working for others rather than their sponsors, reports Al-Rai daily.
These workers were employed by many contractors and some of them are believed to be incompetent in the designations they were hired for.
Meanwhile, the Al-Qabas daily said efforts exerted by the joint committee comprising personnel from the Public Authority for Manpower, the Ministries of Interior, Commerce and the Kuwait Municipality resulted in the seizure of more than 700 violators of labor law during the past three months.
They have been referred to the concerned authority to prepare their deportation. Senior Interior Ministry sources told the daily 7,000 violators of the Residence and Labor Law have been arrested since the beginning of 2019, most of them domestic visa or dependent visa holders caught working for companies.
The Public Authority for Manpower has warned employers against hiring violators of labor and residence laws saying violators face a jail term not exceeding 3 years, and a fine for each worker not less than 2,000 dinars, and not more than 10 thousand dinars, or one of the two penalties
