60 Real-estate Complaints Referred For Probe

Ministry of Commerce and Industry has referred to the Public Prosecution 60 real-estate related complaints lodged against two companies including a money exchange company, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that the ministry received 19 complaints related to real-estate swindling worth KD 5 million lodged against one of the companies. It received 41 complaints related to real-estate swindling of the same value against the second company. Necessary investigations were conducted which revealed that these complaints are valid. The two companies have a previous judicial file based on similar complaints which is open.

The total amount in all the complaints referred by the ministry in this regard is more than KD 10 million. The sources said Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently conducted a study of the submitted complaints and did not find any role in dealing with them as it is related to disputes concerning contracts which are to be filed directly with the Public Prosecution by the complainants without the ministry’s intervention. They affirmed that the ministry is on the verge of taking new strict actions to avoid new fraud operations
