Around 300 Indian Nurses Provided Jobs

Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Civil Service Commission (CSC), has managed to provide jobs to 300 of the 588 Indian nurses who are stranded in Kuwait without a job, reports Aljarida daily. According to sources, 48 nurses managed to leave the country to return to India while the remaining 29 nurses will be offered jobs within the coming three months. These nurses worked at Ministry of Health after completing all the medical test procedures and receiving the necessary papers to start work, but they did not receive their salaries for six months.

Minister of Health Dr Jamal Al-Harbi said he will study the report given to him by Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs and Director of Human Resources Department. Meanwhile, Consultant of Tumors and Board Chairman of the national campaign for protection from cancer Dr Khalid Al-Saleh said 909 nurses were given special training with the cooperation of the Nursing Department along with 703 dentists with cooperation of the Dental Department.

He clarified that the training was aimed at enhancing the communication skills of the nurses and dentists in order to deal better with the patients and their families. In another development, Dr Jamal Al-Harbi on Sunday disclosed planned medical survey for old citizens to refresh the seniors’ medical data. The survey will be conducted in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO) and according to internationally accredited criteria and methods, said Dr Al-Harbi after a meeting of the supreme national committee for the elderly care.

Participants in the meeting discussed the national strategy for the elderly care and the executive blueprint (2016-2020), role of the concerned ministries and authorities, the minister said. The meeting dealt with the medical condition of the old citizens in 2016, the national plan to treat seniors suffering from dementia and the program to protect the old from falling. He revealed that a delegation of Japanese specialists would visit Kuwait on Nov 5-11 to follow up on a joint medical cooperation program.
