Call To Disconnect Power From Residential Buildings Occupied By Bachelors
Kuwait Municipality issued a directive to cut off electricity from real estate properties, including apartments, in private and model residential areas occupied by bachelors; in cooperation with teams from the Ministry of Electricity and Water, reports Al-Rai daily quoting an official source. The source affirmed the Municipality’s procedures to cut off power from buildings where violations were uncovered is in line with the reports of the Interior Ministry that non-Kuwaiti families are living in these properties, in addition to bachelors.
The source disclosed the campaign, which will be launched by the Municipality, will include cutting off electricity and calling the owner of the property through the relevant security authorities to interrogate him.
If proven that he is renting the property to bachelors, he will be blocked immediately so he will not be able to complete any administrative transaction.
In this context, Director General of the Municipality Eng Ahmed Al-Manfouhi stressed the need to amend Municipal Law No. 33 for the year 2016, specifically the articles on non-Kuwaiti families living in private housing areas and mechanism for cutting off electricity from their homes.
