The Criminal Court acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of possessing banned brain stimulants “crystal meth” with the intention of consuming them. According to the case files, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information that a car crashed into the pole of a covered parking shed in Mubarak Al-Kabeer area, securitymen rushed to the location and found the car in the same location where it had crashed but the driver was nowhere to be found. When firefighters from Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) attempted to move the car, one of the officers saw a mobile phone on the floor of the car, a suspicious cigarette box and a small nylon bag which contained a substance that was identified to be “crystal meth”. A case was filed and referred to the concerned authority after which the owner of the car a Kuwaiti citizen was arrested. During the court session, the defense counsel Lawyer Zaid Al-Khabbaz insisted that his client was illegally arrested and searched, especially since he was neither under suspicion nor was he arrested while committing a crime.
