The Court of Misdemeanors has acquitted a Kuwaiti of the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and possessing a firearm, reports Al-Anba daily.

In the meantime a lawyer is pursuing the case of a police officer and warrant officer for firing at the Kuwaiti. The case is expected to come for hearing in July. The officers are charged with attempted murder. Case papers indicate the citizen was driving at a high speed while a police patrol was on duty. The patrol chased the man and ordered him to pull over, and the latter lower the car window glass and told the officer he was getting late to work and that he is a colleague.

The officer agreed to let him go, however pursued him again when he noticed his recklessness and demanded him to stop but the Kuwaiti refused fearing his car will be impounded and license withdrawn.

The patrolmen then collided into the car of the citizen and forced him to stop and one of them pointed his weapon in his face and fired two shots, one pierced the windscreen on the pretext he was carrying a weapon and was under the influence of alcohol. Lawyer Muhammad Al-Otaibi said the Forensic report did not find trace of alcohol in the blood samples of his client.
