Crime Rate, Particularly The Murder Rate, Has Increased In The State Of Kuwait
One murder is being committed in Kuwait every 12 hours, which means two individuals are being murdered in the country on a daily basis. According to statistics issued by the Public Prosecution, the crime rate, particularly the murder rate, has increased in the State of Kuwait during the first half of 2015, such that the total number of murder cases received by the Public Prosecution during the first six months of 2015 was 364.
The murder rate has increased from 252 in 2014 to 364 this year. Public Prosecution has noticed that the rate of physical attacks, compared to last year, has increased to 44.4 percent this year while attacks in defense of honor and reputation have increased to 16.5 percent. The number of kidnapping cases has increased by 6.7 percent.
The statistics explained that a total of 6,662 cases were received during the first six months of 2015 out of which 3,894 are criminal cases, cases related to dud cheques 13 percent, business related cases 9.8 percent and other misdemeanor cases 18.9 percent.
Topping the list of misdemeanor cases with 35.1 percent is theft cases, followed by drug and liquorrelated cases with 33 percent. The rate of dud cheques cases has increased by 48 percent, followed drug addiction related cases by 46 percent and journalism-related cases by 5 percent compared to last year.
